Weequahic Park Army Barracks

by Charna Jaker Wesche

I remember living in Weequahic Park as a child after World War II. The was a housing shortage when men returned from the war and the first of our Baby Boom generation started arriving. Army barracks in The Park served as housing for the veterans and their families. The Park was divided into sections, each named after sites of WWII battles, ie, Corregidor, Anzio, etc. We lived in Bastogne Square.
